The Challenge
The Smart Energy Conference attracts organisations from across the renewable energy industry, creating an exhibition environment filled with technical products, complex messaging, and highly competitive displays.
Green Energy Trading wanted their stand to feel different.

The Solution
The Cardboard Mill designed and built a custom exhibition environment centred around a reusable modular wall system.
Every element was developed with future events in mind, allowing the stand to be packed down, transported, stored, and reassembled without requiring specialist installation teams.
Modular Exhibition Walls
The stand was built around our upgraded modular wall system, creating a large branded backdrop that delivered strong visual impact while remaining lightweight and easiy stored.
The modular format gives the client flexibility for future events, allowing the system to evolve as requirements change over time.
Giant Cardboard Tree Installation
To create a distinctive focal point within the exhibition hall, we designed and built a large-scale cardboard tree installation.
The tree introduced height and character into the stand while providing a visual connection to the broader themes of sustainability and renewable energy.
Within an environment dominated by conventional exhibition systems, the installation helped create a point of difference that immediately attracted attention.
Brochure Displays
Custom magazine shelving was incorporated creating dedicated locations for brochures and printed materials.
This allowed information to remain accessible without adding unnecessary clutter throughout the space.
Branded Storage Plinth
A custom plinth provided a branded presentation surface while also functioning as concealed storage.
Personal belongings, water bottles, and event materials could be stored out of sight, helping the stand remain organised and professional throughout the exhibition.
Designed for Reuse
A major objective of the project was reducing dependence on external installers.
Every component was designed to be straightforward to assemble and pack down, allowing Green Energy Trading's team to manage future installations themselves.
To support this, we also produced simple video assembly guides demonstrating the setup process step-by-step.
The Process
Green Energy Trading first contacted us in November to begin discussions around the project.
Concept development, layouts, and pricing were refined collaboratively throughout the planning phase, with particular attention given to how the stand would function across multiple future events.
As the design evolved, considerations around transport, storage, repeat use, and ease of assembly became key parts of the development process.
Production commenced ahead of the May event, with the completed stand delivered and installed for the Smart Energy Conference in Sydney.
The Outcome
The completed stand provided Green Energy Trading with a highly customised exhibition environment that balanced professionalism with warmth.
The large-scale tree installation attracted attention from across the exhibition floor, while the layout encouraged visitors to enter the space and engage with the team.
The client now has a reusable exhibition system that can continue to be adapted for future events without requiring a complete rebuild each time.
