The cardboard colouring wall is one of those simple ideas that ends up being a standout part of an event.

It’s a full-height illustrated wall designed for people to draw on, colour in, and interact with throughout the day. You’ll see it work especially well in family-friendly events, exhibitions, public activations, and brand spaces where you want people to slow down and engage.

Each panel stands at 2350mm high and 980mm wide, and they can be joined together to create longer walls or laid horizontally for better reach for younger kids. It’s flexible, easy to adapt, and becomes a living piece of the event as it fills up.

How the Colouring Wall Works

Each wall is made up of individual cardboard panels that connect together to form a continuous surface.

The structure is designed to be stable and safe in public environments. Panels are supported with integrated feet or internal weighting, so they hold steady even with people leaning on them while drawing.

You can run it as a single panel feature or build it out into a large-scale activation wall. Some projects use it as a backdrop, others as a central activity zone.

By the end of the event, the wall usually tells its own story. It becomes a record of the people who interacted with it, which is part of the appeal.

Customisation and Branding

Artwork and Design

There are two main ways to approach the artwork:

  • You can supply your own design, set up to our artwork guidelines

  • Or we can design it with you in-house

We often collaborate with clients to create illustrations that reflect the theme of the event, the brand, or the audience. This could be anything from simple line drawings for kids to more detailed branded scenes or storytelling visuals.

Size and Layout

Each panel is:

  • 2350mm high

  • 980mm wide

Panels can be:

  • Joined side-by-side to create long continuous walls

  • Installed as multiple separate stations

  • Rotated horizontally for lower reach access

We can scale the wall to suit the space. Small pop-up activations might use one or two panels, while larger events can run long interactive walls across entire zones.

Branding Opportunities

There’s a lot of room to integrate branding in a way that still feels natural:

  • Logo placement within the illustration

  • Branded characters or scenes

  • Subtle messaging woven into the artwork

  • QR codes or prompts that guide interaction

The goal is to keep it engaging first, branded second, so people actually want to participate.

Sustainability

These walls are made from responsibly sourced cardboard and are fully recyclable at end of life.

Because they’re lightweight, transport and handling have a lower impact compared to traditional materials. They’re also efficient to produce, with minimal material waste during manufacturing.

For multi-day events or touring activations, panels can be reused where appropriate. And when the project wraps up, the material can go straight into recycling streams.

This kind of installation helps reduce the amount of single-use event infrastructure, which is something more organisations are actively looking to improve.

Ideal Applications

The colouring wall works best anywhere you want people to engage, pause, and interact with the space.

Common uses include:

  • Community events and council activations

  • Shopping centre activations

  • Exhibitions and museums

  • Brand activations and campaigns

  • Festivals and family zones

  • Workshops and education spaces

  • Retail pop-ups

  • Event photo and engagement zones

It’s especially effective in spaces where you want to create a shared activity that builds over time.

FAQs

How strong is the colouring wall?

It’s designed for public use. The panels are reinforced and supported so they remain stable while people lean on them to draw or colour.

Can we customise the artwork?

Absolutely. You can provide your own design or work with our team to create something tailored to your event, audience, and brand.

Is it suitable for kids?

Yes. Panels can be installed vertically or laid horizontally to make them more accessible for younger participants.

Can it be shipped interstate?

Yes. The panels are lightweight for transport, making them practical to ship across Australia.

How long does it take to produce?

Lead times depend on the size and complexity of the design. For most projects, we recommend allowing a few weeks, especially if custom artwork is involved.
